Liz von Graevenitz
Liz von Graevenitz is a Contemporary Artist who works from a studio based in the heart of Sheffield’s Cultural Industries Quarter (U.K). She has exhibited both locally and internationally. As co-curator for the International Artist Exchange Program Regular Line in Sheffield and Slovakia, she has worked alongside fellow artists, musicians and actors.
As an artist Liz develops her work by exploring the context through different media. Her skills as a technician working in education have enabled Liz to work right across the spectrum of art media, including bricklaying and cabinet making. She is currently running workshops from her studio space inviting all to learn from her wealth of skills, knowledge and experience.
‘I’m kind of like a modern day hunter-gatherer. Living in the heart of the Steel City I am integrated into a multicultural community, amongst gangs, street drinkers and high fliers. This environment influences me and I create work of the world I know.
Preserving and using specific skills and draughtsmanship is important to me as an artist. The influences of technology have conditioned the audience to overlook such qualities. By leaving in certain marks and clues to the methods of my practice, I remind the viewer that not everything that seems perfect actually is.’

Collaborative performance with The Travelling Shadow Theatre inspired by Jim Ghedis’ debut album. Conducted from a team of artists using shadow puppetry, live projections, art, object installations and live sound / music. Bloc Projects 2015

Future Projects
Upfest Europe’s largest street art and Graffiti Festival 28th -30th July Bristol 2018. I am so humbled to have been selected to paint at this year’s urban street festival. I will be making hand cut stencils for the event and working along side some of the world’s best street artists!
BreakCreate Artist in Residence Colorado USA November 30th December 31st 2018. I’m so happy to have been successful in my application for a month’s residency programme supported by the BreckCreate arts community. During this time I aim to research, develop and practice natural paint pigment making techniques. Delivering workshops to the local community and creating a public mural inspired by the stunning mountain location, the people who live there and their ancestral history and culture.
